The Spowdi story
15 years ago Henrik Johansson, founder and CEO of Spowdi, faced a challenge in the forests of north Sweden, when he needed to distribute water, but there was no electricity for miles. This challenge would be the beginning of a new innovation. Henrik called on a relative to help him solve the problem. “When we started, our goal was not to build a new water pump. We just wanted to move water,” Henrik says. When developing and testing, what actually was a unique energy-efficient water pump, the team realized that more people have the same challenge, especially farmers living in rural areas.
Globally, the need for water and dependencies on fossil fuels to produce food has massively increased over the past half a century. By making our innovation accessible to people who are traditionally dependent on fossil energy, Spowdi can make a positive impact on the people and the planet. Today, Spowdi’s greentech water distribution system helps small-hold farmers worldwide to generate more food, with significantly less water and only the sun as a power source. Spowdi is innovating for a greener tomorrow.
